Swiss NGO Director Pins Ugandan On Death Threats

He said two second message read that ‘I am already preparing for your burial’. “However when I called the sender number to know the source of the messages, the number was always off,” narrated Budolfsen.


He said that he first ignored the messages. However, he continued to receive letters containing the same threats. “They were brought to me by one of my servants who said she had picked them at the gate.”


Fearing for his life, Budolfsen decided to report the matter to Central Police Station in Kampala in January 2013.


“I gave them the number which was used to send the messages and in March this year, I was called and informed by a police officer that the owner of the number had been tracked and arrested,” he said.


“I was however surprised on reaching CPS. The person in dentition was my then farm manager, Timothy Mugabe. I was really shocked.”


He said that though there had once been a rift between Mugabe and the Organisation over mismanagement of the NGO’s farm, he never thought he could behind this.

He also told court that Mugabe had also been among the group of managers who suggested during a meeting that the anonymous number should be tracked so as to find the owner.


The case was adjourned to October 4 for hearing of more state witnesses.


Kids of Africa is a Swiss-registered and a Uganda-registered charity majoring in raising less privileged children. Different generations live together, share responsibilities and support each other when necessary.

The village currently consists of ten family homes which are headed by foster-mother raising up to ten children. Most of our foster mothers have been with us ever since we started.
