Police Impersonator Arrested In Mbarara


ampoule geneva;”>Police in Mbarara have arrested a 35 year old man for being found in possession of police uniforms.

According to South Western police spokesperson Polly Namaye, 35- year- old Gordon Ahimbisibwe hailing from Kagongi in Kiruhura district has been apprehended after getting involved in an accident.

“As police tried to help him thinking that that he was a fellow police officer because he was clad in a full police uniform bearing a rank of a Corporal we were surprised to find out he was an impersonator,” explained Namaye.

The police spokesperson added that police later found out that the uniform was stolen from a one Byaruhanga attached to Mbarara police station after unknown thugs broke into his house and took off with several house.

Namaye added that the suspect is believed to be part of the gang which have been terrorizing the residents in Mbarara district and other neighboring areas.

The police spokesperson therefore stressed that the suspect will be dragged to court to face illegal possession of government property and aggravated robbery among other related charges.
