Meanwhile, the suspect was also at court in company of a Turkish lady and his lawyers.

According to a court officer, who preferred anonymity, told Chimpreports that the Magistrate, Gladys Kamasanyu Musenze who was supposed to preside over the case had travelled – leaving behind a Grade One Magistrate.

Interestingly, even the Grade One Magistrate was absent from duty. The registrar also left for burial of a relative.

After the envoy’s departure, the suspect too was picked up by a group of three men of Turkish origin.

Egrgul is accused of committing rape on the night of April 29 after having a few drinks with his friends at a bar in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, where he allegedly met the diplomat.

After the night out, Egrgul reportedly drove the victim to his apartment in Nalukolongo, a city suburb from where he committed the crime. The duo later went back to the bar from where they parted ways.

According to the court documents, the victim said after the incident, Egrgul left her in the bar after he learnt of her suspicion about his crime.

She reported the case to the police hence prompting Egrgul’s arrest two days later from one of his shops located along Kampala Road.

The case was up for hearing of the last two state witnesses out of the four which the state had produced in Court.
