The Ministry in charge of Cabinet Affairs said Richard Muhumuza would replace Ngoga.

It remains unclear why Ngoga, who is credited for having built structures that led to the successful prosecution of thousands of genocide suspects, was showed the exit.

Officials who are not authorized to speak to the press said they were not aware whether the President would give Ngoga a new assignment.

In a related development, President Kagame also appointed Deputy Prosecutor Genera, Alphonse Hitiyaremye as Supreme Court judge.
