The President was on Saturday afternoon the Chief Guest at the 18th coronation anniversary ceremonies marking the Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba-Iguru Rukindi’s 18th coronation anniversary that took place at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal Municipality in Western Uganda.

The colorful ceremony run under the theme “Youth and Development in Tooro Kingdom”. Other dignitaries at the ceremony included the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, visiting African Queens who had concluded their conference on Friday evening and cultural leaders from all regions in Uganda, among others.

President Museveni stressed that what Tooro, Uganda and Africa in general need is social and economic transformation that can be achieved by embracing modern commercial farming, alongside industrialization, services and ICT, among others.

Mr. Museveni, however, reminded the people of the region that the government has developed infrastructure like the road from Kampala on to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and advised them to use the facility for wealth creation.

The President, who is also one of the care takers of the young King Oyo, congratulated him and the people of Tooro Kingdom upon reaching the 18th coronation anniversary. He pledged more support to cultural institutions as the economy improves.

King Oyo strongly pledged to bring the youth of Tooro Kingdom on board to eradicate poverty. He commended President Museveni for his love for him as a person and to the people of Tooro in general.

The Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, Mr. Stephen Kaliba, also applauded the President for the great contribution and support he has accorded to Omukama Oyo and Tooro Kingdom.
