Mwesigwa has however blamed the central government for taking so long – close to 27 years denying what belongs to Buganda kingdom.

“The government of Mengo is up to now demanding several things from the central government which include among others; land, buildings that are occupied but not paid for and money,” Mwesigwa said.

In his remarks to the press on Tuesday in Kampala, Mwesigwa said the King has gone through a lot of tough times for these 20 years but has remained strong and courageous in fighting for the continuity and existence of the kingdom.

He has appreciated the media for the wide coverage given to the coronation anniversary which has helped to draw the attention of people towards the anniversary.

He called upon the public to attend the ceremony in huge numbers and further thanked the Kingdom for honoring Democratic Party leaders by inviting them.

On the other hand, Mwesigwa expressed DP’s heartfelt condolences to the general public and the bereaved family of the late Gen. Mustafa Idris.

Mwesigwa said Idris was a clean man who served the nation of Uganda during the toughest time of the reign of terror of Idi Amin but ensured country’s growth and development.

He added that the general never compromised his values given the brutality of the regime to the citizens of this country.
