Police Traffic Department Upgraded To Directorate

The new traffic directorate has been boosted by additional 400 traffic officers who have been training for more than two years now in traffic operations.


The commissioner for traffic now gets a promotion of a director for the new created department.


Kayihura appreciated the good work done by the traffic police especially in curbing down road accidents.


Road accidents in Uganda reduced by 11.2 percent in 2012 making it the first time traffic has registered a decrease in accidents ever since Kayihura became the IGP.


He further tasked the traffic division to immediately start inspecting all police vehicles by identifying DMCS and to monitor all police drivers ensuring that none of them drives under the influence of alcohol.
