The explosion which occurred at about 6:50pm in Gitega sector near Nyabugogo abattoir commonly known as “marathon” killed three people.

Two of them died on spot while the other one succumbed to the injuries.

The third person was among the 30 people who were injured in the incident.

Police have since arrested two more people in connection with the blasts, bringing the number of suspects to three.

One suspect was held on the fateful night of Friday.

“Rwanda National Police appeals to the population to remain calm and conduct their usual businesses as investigations continue to bring to justice all those responsible for this inhuman act,” said Badege.
