It is out of sickness that Gen. Kayihura rescheduled all his meetings and even delegated his deputy to face Parliament.

Kayihura was supposed to chair the Police Advisory Committee on Wednesday but delegated his deputy, Okoth Ochola, to stand in for him.

He was also expected to attend Parliament on Thursday but asked Ochola to represents the law enforcement body.

Sources close to the IGP say his health was being negatively affected by a heavy workload. Apart from coordinating the work of Police, the 58-year-old General is literally in charge of the country’s security.

The Police force has since been restructured to carry out specialized missions such as countering terrorism, insurgency and civil disobedience.

The Police also run units charged with marine, VIP protection, hostage rescue missions and anti-riot among others.

Aides tell Chimpreports that Kayihura spends less than four hours a day for bed rest at his Muyenga residence as he is always in meetings with other security chiefs, the President and reading troves of intelligence briefings.
