In an interview with Chimp Reports, Coach Sam Timbe noted that Okwi had joined the team to help him gain fitness as he has no club to train from since he absconded from his Tunisians bosses over unclear circumstances last month.

“He wanted to gain fitness in preparation for the world cup qualifier game against Senegal,’’ stressed Timbe.

The former Police FC tactician further noted that Okwi was also in the team to give them morale as they prepare for the Tanzanian game on Saturday.

However, SC Victoria player Savio Kabugo did not train with the rest of the team as he underwent a separate training session due to an injury he sustained in the previous game. The player is still under monitoring by the medical team of the Uganda cranes.

The cranes will battle Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in the CHAN championship qualifiers in a return leg on Saturday at Namboole.

The winner will play in the CHAN championships in South Africa that are due next year between January and February.
