“Baban stayed awake for a few moments after sitting up and then slipped into unconsciousness. He died on his way to the hospital,” a one Musa Ayub told Chimpreports on Saturday night.

“Medical personnel at the field tried unsuccessfully to relieve the pressure in her head.”

The incident comes just a year after a Kenya lady rugby captain Aberdeen Shikoyi, passed on after being seriously injured in a match against Uganda at Kyadondo Rugby grounds in Kampala.

Shikoyi broke her spinal cord during a deadly collision with Ugandan hero Christine Kizito in the first leg of the Elgon Cup in April 2012.

Kenyan players wept as doctors used a stretcher to lift her out of the pitch and airlifted to Kenya for immediate treatment.

Before the match ended, Shikoyi, who boasted of two Elgon Cup Titles, was on oxygen at ICU hospital in Nairobi.

She later passed away on at a Nairobi Hospital.
