On meeting them together with Mr Bisereko who is head of the task committee on job of amending the National Council of Sports Act, Mbabazi told them that he was aware of all developments in the game of football.
“I know everything going on in football and I know that in the end one of the two parties will not be favoured but there is a need to constitute and amend the sports acts,” said Mbabazi.
During the meeting, Dan Walusimbi who is well known for drafting several petitions to Parliament concerning wrangles in the football fraternity, stormed the meeting where he told Mbabazi that he will be happy if the ‘illegal federation’ can be pushed out.
FUFA officials also wanted Mbabazi to convince Hon Jessica Alupo to take a step back on her plans to disband the current federation claiming FIFA would move quickly to ban Uganda football activities as it does not tolerate political interference.
Mbabazi tasked the committee to consult FIFA officials also who will jet in the country on July 28.
FIFA officials will be here to advise clubs on how next season’s league should be organised.
Mbabazi in the end ordered the committee to do more consultations.
However, it appears FUFA will have to go by the resolutions of the committee as the federation cannot carry out its activities outside laws governing the country.
Meanwhile, Alupo was expected to pronounce herself on disbanding the federation on Friday but this may not be the case as she will have to wait for a response from the international governing body, FIFA.
Amidst suspicions on whether the Minister will disband FUFA or not, clubs that participated in FUFA Super league last season had a General assembly at Aringa hotel in Kampala where they agreed to begin next season league on August 20 with a match between Sc Villa vs KCCA.
