It is reported that the bus driver, Faidha, was given the money on July 10, 2013 at around 10:00pm while in Kabale town by Turyasingura to deliver it to someone in Kampala for exchange but the money never reached its intended recipient.
On the way to Kampala, the bus got a mechanical breakdown as they had reached Biharwe town along Mbarara -Masaka road before the bus driver decided to return to Kabale.
Another person drove the bus to Kampala.
Mr Mate told the Chimpreports on Tuesday that efforts to recover the money are ongoing as Police investigates the two suspects.
However, Faidha claims he gave the money to someone whose identity he is yet to reveal.
“All money exchangers and businessmen should avoid carrying large sums of money in their pockets because it is risky for their lives and business,” said Mate.
He also appealed to the public to always use banks or seek police protection while transporting large sums of money.
