Igulot blamed the accident on the vehicles’ drivers who tried to speed past the railway crossing point without taking caution of an oncoming train.
“There is a very big and clear railway crossing sign, and one wonders why they could not slow down well knowing that the train route is often used.”
However, an eyewitness only identified as Mugerwa, said the train operator “is becoming more reckless as he no longer warns while approaching the crossing grade.”
Mugerwa further noted that the railway crossing point doesn’t offer a good view to motorists and drivers of an approaching train on either side.
“I haves seen a number of cars survive this kind of accident at this junction and now we have victims. If nothing is done about this, more people’s lives might be in danger,” he cautioned.
