The President was on Saturday addressing a rally at Kisojo Primary School, Ntwetwe Sub-County in Kyankwanzi District.

He is currently on a tour of the Greater Luweero Triangle areas to interact with veterans in a bid help them in particular and wananchi in general to tackle development issues with a view to transforming Luwero region into a model zone of production to fight against household poverty.

Mr. Museveni also said that two technical institutes will be established by Government in Kyankwanzi District now that the area comprises 2 constituencies.

He told the gathering that it is Government policy to ensure that there is uniform development in the country.

He said under this arrangement, every Sub-County is to be given two primary schools and one secondary school.

The President revealed that Lt. Col. Katongole is to command the Nkrumah Zone in a drive to help uproot poverty from homesteads in that zone.

He also said the Poverty Eradication Task Force is to be headed by Gen. Salim Saleh whose Deputy is Brigadier ProscoviaNalweyiso.

The President explained that the soldiers would to work as monitors for the development of households adding that they would have the task of delivering additional offers such as coffee and fruits seedlings.

He informed the rally that in addition, livestock breeding centers would be set up to ensure quality service delivery.

Mr. Museveni also pledged 100 dairy cows and coffee seedlings for veterans of Nkrumah Zone which covers parts of Kyankwanzi District.

He announced that tractors for cultivation and dam construction equipment would be provided too. He revealed that electricity would be extended to every Town Council and Trading Centre.

Mr. Museveni further told the rally that the Government would build houses for the elderly and that hydra farm machines for making bricks would be provided so that bricks could be availed to wananchi at pocket-friendly prices.

He observed that it is not good for an area to have good development in terms of standard infrastructure when its residents are poverty stricken in their homesteads.

He said that since the NRM Government had provided the people with relief and rehabilitated the numerous facilities that were damaged during the people’s protracted armed struggle against dictatorship, the outstanding task now was to empower wananchi acquire wealth in their households.

Regarding democracy as a factor of development, the President told the people that NRM enabled the people to elect their leaders at various levels after coming to power in 1986 with the aim of ensuring sustainable development.

The President revealed that 54 Districts have received bicycles for their leaders adding that the remaining 57 Districts would also receive their share in due course.

Mr. Museveni strongly cautioned the youth against the HIV/AIDS scourge. He also tasked parents to sensitize their children over the risks facing modern society.

He urged all the people in the country to stop leading reckless lives.

The Chairman of Kyankwanzi Veterans, Ssalongo Ali Luwangula, saluted the President for the dividend of peace in the country.

He also expressed the area’s gratitude for the construction of the Kampala-Hoima road. He requested the President to assist the people of Bukwiri and Ntwetwe to acquire milk coolers.
