Bernard Mugirwa, a top official at Busiika confirmed this after agreeing with riders and drivers to host the Cocacola fans’ race.
“The Coca Cola-funded race will be featuring many drivers regardless of whether participants hold driving licenses or not. As long as they have well designed and functioning rally cars they will participate in the exercise,” said Mugirwa.
He further noted that this activity will be running four times a year but quickly added that 2013 will see only two races due to delayed preparations.
The top three winners of each event will be rewarded with Shs 500,000, shs300,000, and shs200,000 respectively on top of Shs 50,000 upon registration.
Other riders will be rewarded as well.
Bernard defended the exercise, saying it does not contradict the official Federation of Motorsports Club Uganda (FMU) calendar of the year.
It has emerged that even drivers who were suspended for 6 years (Duncan Mubiru, Nasser Mutebi, John Burrows Lumu and Geoffrey Nsamba) will be legible to participate.
By Saturday morning, 22 drivers had registered for this event and other top riders had showed interest in taking part.
Sadly, Maximo Van Pee and Olivier Van Pee will not be part of the riders since they are reported out of the country.
