Speaking to Chimpreports on Friday, the area residents said the road has been closed for several months now under unclear circumstances.
“This is the main route for trade and production which we use to transport milk, matooke, bananas and where vehicles pass to the hospital,” lamented the residents.
Emmanuel Kabuje, Nick Kakyanga and Wilberforce Babwetera; all residents in the area told this news wire that the locals were extremely angry about the closure of the road and started blaming President Museveni’s farm manager, David Kashumba for not being “considerate to the farmers’ plight.”
“Kashumba is using the presidents’ name to torment us,” they said.
It is reported that business and production in the area has been negatively affected by the closure of the road.
“If nothing is done about this, we will match to State House and meet the President himself to explain to us why they had the road closed,” the residents emphasized.
Meanwhile, the residents say they have asked for assistance from the District Police Commander and the Resident District Commissioner to help them but no response has been given yet.
Kashumba was not readily available for comment.
