Kayihura Warns Reckless Police Drivers

malady geneva;”>In his remarks at the Fire Brigade headquarters in Kampala on Friday, Kayihura said, “I have instructed the Commander for Traffic to setup a separate inspection unit to periodically inspect all police vehicles.”

He emphasized that the role of the unit is to monitor all police vehicles to ensure they are well maintained in good conditions and serviced as required.

The IGP ordered the police commanders to prepare more cells for police drivers.

“Whoever fails to maintain the vehicle in its good condition, he/she will be arrested without any further warning,” he warned.

Kayihura noted that Police has been acquiring a fleet of vehicles but could not last for long. He pointed out a new Break-down truck which was acquired recently by Uganda Police but got involved in a fatal accident which left the a driver dead.

He made the remarks as he officiated the Fire Brigade’s passing out ceremony where 35 prisons officers and 422 police probation officers joined the department.
