Karungi, who handed over the money and sewing machines to the women at the village level, said the program will cover the whole district.
“There are 509 villages in Kanungu district and all of them have already been earmarked to benefit from the funds. However, all the beneficiaries will have to agree on an income generating project that can improve their house hold incomes,” she said.

Karungi further appealed to the women to buy piglets which multiply fast so that all women can benefit in the shortest time possible.
“It is my hope that if the funds are well utilized, they will multiply in the next two years so that all women can benefit and use the proceeds to engage in a viable income generating project,” added Karungi.
The MP revealed that she came up with the program after realizing that most women lack basic means to generate some income yet they are the major funders of their families.
She donated three sewing machines to each of the thirteen sub counties in Kanungu district for the women to learn skills and be able to fend for their families.
