The plane carrying the Head of State and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta departed Jomo Kenyatta International Airport shortly after 8.00 a.m.

The trip is seen as Uhuru’s move to tighten relations between Kenya and the East African nations.

Uhuru was recently in Uganda on a three-day visit where he was joined by Rwanda President Paul Kagame to embark on planning for ambitious development plans that include the construction of an oil pipeline, overhaul of railways among others.

In a related development, Rwanda President Paul Kagame has also arrived in Bujumbura for the Independence Day celebrations.
