URA v Rayon Sport

Second half goals from Jean Baptist Mugiranze after 52 minutes and Nova Bayama (87) were all that the Rwandans needed to sink the Red Eagles and put a dent on Express’ chances of ever lifting the coveted trophy.

The Rwandese side also eliminated Uganda’s URA at the same stage last year in Dar es Salaam.

Express continued to look the likelier scorers in what remained of the game, but they were unable to take advantage of their dominance with caretaker head coach Sam Simbwa blaming the Sudanese referee Badreldin Abdel for the bad result.

“You could think he was on a mission to let APR go through,” Simbwa ranted after fulltime.

Uganda’s hopes now hang on Coach Paul Nkata’s URA who face another Rwandan side Rayon Sport, 2-1 victims to Express in the group stages.
