Express FC v APR (3.30pm)
Al-Ahly Shandy v El-Merreikh (5pm)
His team face three time winners champions APR of Rwanda in the first quarter final game at the Naga Stadium in Darfur, Sudan.
Interestingly Ssimbwa only took charge of the Express team on Monday in their last group game against Electric Sport of Chad that ended 1-1.
He was in Rwanda a week ago and signed a deal as new coach of a top Premier League side Police FC who finished second in the league last season.
“I will officially start as Police coach on July 1, but decided to help my former team Express for this tournament,” explained Ssimbwa.
The former Uganda Cranes winger won the 2011-12 league trophy with Express FC, before switching to SC Victoria University who eventually terminated his contract after the first round of the league last season.
Ssimbwa said he will look to his trusted skipper Willy Kavuma and Eric Ssebuguzi to lead the team against the APR side.
“I watched APR in their 1-all draw against El Merreikh El Fasher last Friday and know what to expect,” added Ssimbwa.
On Wednesday the second quarter final match in the tournament will feature home sides El Ahly Shady and Al Merreikh El Fasher. Former Ugandan international Joseph Kabagambe features for Al Merreikh El Fasher. The last two quarter final games will be played Thursday.
