“These fees are unlawful. We are now preparing a petition to forward to Parliament to force the Minister responsible for disregarding lawful judicial decisions to resign,” said Mayanja.

He further noted that it is shocking for the Minster to use a stroke of a pen to subvert court orders and still remain a cabinet minister.

Mayanja therefore condemned the way police forced and arrested the taxi drivers who had refused to pay the monthly charges to KCCA.

“This might be like the past dark ages where hoodlums camouflaged under official attires to extort the hard earned resources from the citizenry particularly transporters in the city,” stressed the DP chairman.

He further noted that this is not the fundamental change promised by the NRM government when coming to power.

“We recommend that Hon. Frank Kajiji Tumwebaze seek medical checkups because we believe he requires them,” advised Mayanja.
