Thursday

Express FC v Ports United

New signing James Kasibante scored the solitary goal to launch the tax collector’s championship campaign after being invited by Cecafa as a guest team after two Tanzania clubs and Tusker from Kenya refused to go to Darfur for security reasons.

Goal scorer Kasibante, the former Entebbe Young player is just one of several new names in the tax collectors’ ranks though fellow new signing Frank Kalanda from Express alongside head coach Pual Nkata failed to travel on schedule citing passport problems.

Ibrahim Kirya, Nkata’s assistant was in charge of the team as they made a perfect start to the tournament.

Alongside 2011/12 Uganda Super League winners Express FC, they are the representatives from Uganda while Kenya and Tanzania are not represented.

Action at the tournament resumes tomorrow (Wednesday) with Elman of Ethiopia taking on Rwanda’s APR while Burundi’s Vital O takes on Joseph Kabagambe’s El Merrick Fasher.
