Born on June 22 1922 in Ntungamo District of Western Uganda, Kagyenzi studied at Kitunga in Kajara County before proceeding to Mbarara High School.

His first posting at work was at Gee post in Ntungamo where he dealt in animal fat during the Second World War.

The President’s Special Communication Assistant, Sarah Kagingo told Chimpreports on Monday Museveni had arrived at the burial venue to “to thank God for the life of Mzee William Kagyenzi.”

Kagyenzi also worked in Kabezi, Bwongyera, Ihunga and Kagamba in Kajara County.

The deceased was the last born of many brothers and had his way of life endeared him to many especially his grandchildren.

The family says he used to wrestle and fight as his nickname “Buhiri Bwandanga Rujuguta.”

Kagyenzi was a close associate of Museveni’s family until his death. The President reportedly paid him courtesy visits during holidays.
