“The media is the unknown hero for the liberation of Somalia by the AMISOM troops,” Odongo added.

Odongo said when AMISOM launched its operations in Somalia in 2007, it was referred to by many people as ‘Mission dead on arrival’ probably because of what had befallen the mighty over 20,000 American led mission in the 90s which later pulled out, with total embarrassment.

“However, currently, many call it ‘mission alive on arrival!’ thanks for the accurate and positive depiction by you the media, your reporting opened up the world to understand that Somalia is worth supporting and to stand with,” Odongo poured out his appreciation.

Odogo has called upon all Ugandans and Africans at large to continue working with African Union (AU) and all partners to consolidate peace and security in Somalia. He said Uganda was assured of victory and total liberation of the country.
