Despite the boycott of two constituencies of Kibale and Opeteta, Butebo returning officer Charles Lobel announced Mutono as the newly elected MP of Butebo Constituency on Thursday night.
Mutoni was followed by Independent candidate Elizabeth Aisu with a total of 10,394 votes while Yotha Ssajabi came third with 77,200 votes.
The FDC candidate, Samuel Khalwa, followed with Democratic Party’s Zaidi Ziwa emerging fifth with 127 votes.
Eria Kashoda came last with a total of only 94 votes.
The chairman Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Eng. Badru Kiggundu expressed great disappointment with the boycotting of the election.
Kiggundu said EC is to investigate some opposition members who are believed to have influenced the people to boycott the election which he said is against the law.
The boycott was due to the disqualification of Richard Oriebo Oseku from participating in the race for not resigning from the army where he was an actively serving soldier.
