Mirinda Miss Teen is an annual teen’s talent contest that aims at showcasing the great talents and characters of today’s teenage girls. The competition involves a search for a teen girl between 15 and 18 years who is attractive, intelligent, warm, playful with a keen sense of humor, bold and focused. Miss Teen must also be spontaneous, provocative, well groomed and a role model in her community.
Ms Berna Kizza, the Mirinda brand manager, said, “The theme for Mirinda Miss Teen 2013 is Beach Edition. This was chosen because beach moments are associated with fond memories of fun and excitement for everyone regardless of age and gender.”
Ms Kizza said the Mirinda Miss Teen experience will re-create beach moments in all its events as was witnesses at the launch party at Garden City Rooftop, and have more interactive activities.
“We want to give the girls the kind of fun they are looking forward to but before they take part, they must seek for parental consent,” she added.
Ms Kizza said Miss Teen embodies the true character of brand Mirinda.
“It’s a fun, playful, provocative and smart brand that is loved by many teens. Therefore the Miss Teen contest is the appropriate platform to spot the girl with the likeness of Mirinda which comes in a variety of flavours including; Fruity, Orange, Pineapple and the recently launched Green Apple.”
Five schools will be toured individually during the search for the fairest teenager this year. In addition, four clusters have been created, each having up to 15 schools in all the regions of the country.
In total, according to Ms Kizza, girls in more than 50 schools will have a chance to compete for the crown.
Besides the ultimate prize, girls will also compete to be Miss Fashionista, Miss Popular, Miss Fashionista, Miss Brainy and Miss Entrepreneur.
This weekend’s judges will be New Vision society editor Nigel Nassar, who was also a judge last season, Sophie Tatu of Urban TV and Yvonne Koreta.
These and other judges will traverse the country with the Mirinda team in search of a girl who knows how to free their fun side, an attribute of Mirinda.
“Mirinda Miss Teen judges will be on the lookout for more than just beauty,” said Ms Kizza.
Last year’s winner was Abigail Amahoro, a Senior Five student of Seeta High School who took the crown after emerging best out of the 20 girls.
Mirinda has promised to make this year’s search for Miss Teen, the utmost definition of fun and pleasure.
“We shall have games like hola hoop, disc throws, a Green Apple juggling challenge, in addition to other games where girls will win prizes,” said Ms Kizza.
During the school tour, girls will be entertained by some of the top musicians.
