Duncan Mugabe clinched his second Kenya Tennis Open crown on Sunday with a thrilling victory over Rwandese Jean Cluade Gasigwa in Nairobi.
Mugabe lost the first set but battled back well to seal a 5-7 6-2 6-1 triumph over the aging Rwandese who defeated him two months ago in a Uganda Tennis Open semi final.
Mugabe beat Zambian Edgar Kazembe in the semi-final while Oringa who struggled with an injury was ejected by Gasigwa.
The 22-year-old remains the only Ugandan to have won the Kenya Open, also teamed up with Oringa to win the doubles title in the week-long tournament in which Uganda had a strong showing.
Mugabe and Oringa beat Kazembe and Gasigwa in the doubles.
“Special thanks to everybody who showed me love and support, means a lot,” he wrote on his face book page after the sweet victory on foreign soil.
Mugabe completed his treble after teaming up with Kenyan Mutuku Zua to defeat Rwandan Diedonne Habiyambere and Kenyan Caroline Odour 6-3 3-6 10-5 to win the mixed doubles
