According to the Vice chairman of Kikaya, Joseph Ssalongo Musoke, he received a call at around 8:30am on Friday morning from one Kayabwe, who reported that a man had been killed and his body thrown in a ditch near his home.
“I immediately called the police which came, removed the body and took it to Mulago Referral hospital for post mortem,” he said.
He however, said that before police could take the deceased body, there was too much opposition from the boda boda cyclists who claimed it would be expensive when they are to get back the body from Mulago.
Mr. Musoke suspects that Segawa could have been killed by a passenger he was taking.
“Many people in Bulega are so idle and spend most of their time playing pool game and sports betting. This is one of the major causes of the increase of theft and crime rate in this region,” he said.
According to the OC of Bulega Police Station, David Kamugira, he received news at around 8:30am and called patrol to come pick up the body.
He has advised the people of Bulega to always work hand in hand with the police to fight and reduce the rate of crime in their area.
Kamugira added: “For the Police it is already doing its part. We have increased the number of operations fighting such crimes and we have arrested suspects already.”
Meanwhile, Segawa was riding a motorcycle with registration number UDZ 587D which belonged to one Peter Wasike.
Mr. Wasike said he also received the news at around 8:30am when he heard that someone was killed at Sseguya stage in Bulega and the same stage as Segawa worked at.
He revealed that Segawa has been working for him for over two months now and has left two kids and a pregnant wife.
