This season, they remain undefeated in the league’s regular season and currently lead the 10-team league with 15 points out of their five outings.
“The team is in tiptop form with no injuries,” says assistant captain Smith Okumu. With that kind of form and spirit, Nemo Stars see themselves as real contenders for the title.
Last month, Nemo Stars became the first Ugandan club to participate at the Confederation of African Volleyball Men’s Club Championship in Tripoli, Libya. They finished eleventh out of seventeen teams and will hope to use that experience as a springboard to success in Rwanda. More than 32 teams have confirmed to participate in the year’s tournament.
The two-day tournament, which is sponsored by the Commission for the Fight against Genocide in Rwanda (CNLG), will be held in remembrance of 46 (known) members of the volleyball fraternity of Rwanda who were killed during the 1994 genocide.
