Uganda Handball Super League: Police Goes Top As Spears Shoot Down Arrows


page geneva;”>Super Wednesday lived upto its expectations as giants Police Lady Metro clashed with defending champions Prison Lady Spears at Luzira Prison grounds and only the grass was left to suffer.

sales geneva;”> With the game played at Luzira, the Prison’s home court, the champions started off well taking command of the game but Police found their rhythm and caught up with the first half of the game ending in a draw; 11 for all.

Second half was another story all together as Police continued from where they stopped and quickly taking charge of the second half limiting Prison to scoring just only 7 goals as the game ended 29 – 18 in favor of Police.

The win for Police takes them to the top of the table with 6 points in 3 games played while Prison Spears stay 4th with 4 points from 3 games.

Apako Harriet top scored for Police with 9 goals while Leila Stella and Zawadi Beatrice added 6 and 5 respectively. Ajio Lillian and Nanyonga Silvia each scored 6 for the champions.

In the men’s category, 2012 men’s champions Prison Spears found no difficulty defeating Arrows by 18 points. Spears avenged the loss on their female counterparts by beating Arrows with authority on their home court to put a smile on the home fans who seemed so disappointed after the first game of the day.

Kongo Ibrahim top scored for Spears with 12 goals while Atona Douglas and Ochuka Peter added9 goals each. Angutuko Gerald top scored for Arrows while Richard Wandera and Okello Patrick each added 6 goals. The win has pushed Prison Spears to 3rd position in 2 games while Arrows stay bottom of the table without a win.

The league resumes on Saturday 1st June, 2013 at Kyambogo University grounds with the below fixture:
