This was during a visit to Gayaza Electronic Works Limited manufacturers of refrigerators and Television assembling plant located in Ndeeba on Wednesday.


Mutende further urged the government to support local investors in exhibiting their products by creating market for them both within and outside the country.


“Unlike the foreign investors who always import skilled personnel to work on their plants, local investors always aim at building a local man power in all stages of production which is an advantage to all Ugandans,” he said.


Gayaza Electronic Works Limited (GETS) is an indigenous company which was established with an aim of manufacturing Fridges and assembling television sets in Uganda.


It is located in the heart of Kampala City along Ndeeba-Masaka Road. It employs more than 80 Ugandans.


GETS Managing Director, Peter Samula, has called upon the government to set up an industrial bank that lends money to local industries to help boost up the industry.


Samula further advised all Ugandans who import goods abroad to always get more information on the manufacturing plants so as to use the acquired knowledge to boost production in Uganda.
