Museveni Continues Army Reshuffle

Mugenyi was formerly Commander of the Armoured Brigade.


Colonel Joseph Ssemwanga who has been Commandant Armoured Warfare Training School has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier and Appointed Commander Armoured Brigade.


Army spokesperson Paddy Ankunda confirmed the promotions on Saturday, saying, “We Congratulate the officers upon these well deserved promotions and wish them Success in their assignments.”


Colonel Augustine Kyazze has been promoted to Brigadier and remains Deputy Chief of Logistics and Engineering in-charge of Engineering while Colonel Francis Chemongesi who has been Armoured Brigade Operations Officer is now a Brigadier.


Chemongesi was appointed Commandant Armoured Warfare Training School.


Colonel Deus Sande, the Chief Instructor at the school is also now a Brigadier but attached to AMISOM which runs military operations in Somalia.


Col Charles Lutaya, formerly Acting Chief of Staff Air force goes for Senior Air Staff and Command Course in the U.S.A. He has been replaced with Lt Col James Birungi.


Museveni on Thursday night dropped Chief of Defence Forces Gen Aronda Nyakairima and appointed him Minister of Internal Affairs.


The Cabinet, Uganda Media Centre and Permanent Secretaries witnessed major shakeups this week.
