Opposition Warn Nantaba Against Canceling Land Titles

“This land belongs to the people of this country and Nantaba is not the Courts of law to cancel close to 500 land titles,” he said.

Nantaba recently ordered at least 500 land titles which were issued ‘fraudulently’ to be cancelled.

As she addressed journalists on May 15, Nantaba promised to deal with all the corrupt officials in the lands registry who connive with estate dealers to prey on the weak tenants by evicting them.

She said about 450 land titles belonged to one land dealer had evicted tenants without adequately compensating them although she refused to disclose the name of the person.

Tumusiime has further cautioned Nantaba “not to be misled by the temporary authority she’s getting from the President because it is perishable.”
