Ugandans have also adopted use of cyber cafes for information at a lesser pay in a bid to send and receive information. With Internet and use of smart phones, people carry out all kinds of businesses online.


In 2009, Uganda had 6,757 internet hosts, making it one-hundred and thirty first in terms of countries with the most internet hosts. In 2008, Uganda had 2.5 million internet users, making it sixty fourth in terms of countries with the most internet users.


Furthermore, many people can’t leave without laptops, phones, computers since these tools are a mean of transforming information from one person to the other.


Health care providers can remotely provide health services and information to their patients cutting on the transportation charges and time wastage.


On May 10, the People ICT development (IICD) website published an article on how Service in Ugandan health clinics has improved thanks to digital patient feedback. It reported that health clinics in and around Jinja, Uganda are testing ways to conduct patient satisfaction questionnaires via a smartphone app, pen and paper and via a call centre approach.


This is part of a larger project of IICD, Akvo, Text to Change, Cordaid and local partner The Diocese of Jinja to contribute to timely, complete and accurate management of health information and to strengthen performance based financing through the use of computers and other information and communication technology (ICT).


Through these devices nurses and doctors can sensitize the entire community about immunization, adherence to treatment of chronic diseases which minimizes on the costs associated with administering the treatment hence avoiding the wastage of drugs,


Business men today also provide information to their customers using phones, internet in case a customer owns an email address, putting adverts on radios and televisions advertising new products.


Customers in turn also contact their suppliers in case of any orders. The biggest population in rural areas has access to radios that help them get business information.


Social media net works such as face book, twitter, Skype, Google plus and linked are now easily accessed on either mobile phones or an internet enabled computer.
