Addressing journalists in Kampala on Wednesday, Ben Paul Mungyereza, Executive Director UBOS said, there was an overall increase of 2.6 percent in prices at whole sector level in March due to an increase of 2.0 percent in prices of inputs of residential inputs, 2.0 percent increase in prices of non residential building materials, and a 5.9 percent increase in the prices of inputs in for civil works.
“Monthly charges show that in March 2013, average prices of inputs for the whole construction sector decreased by 0.1 percent compared to February 2013,” he said.
Mungyereza added: “In February 2013, there was no significant change in average prices compared to January 2013 well as in January 2013 there was a 2.2 percent increase in average prices compared to December 2012.”
He noted that the monthly average prices of inputs for the categories of residential buildings and non residential decreased by 0.1 percent each and the category of civil works decreased by 0.2 percent in the month of March 2013.
However, Mungyereza said, in most basic headings material in puts there was a notable decrease in the price of diesel and butem by 0.9 percent and 0.6 percent in the month of 2013.
