On Saturday, Ugandan fans left disappointed as Rwenzori lost 33-10 to Kenyan side Ndovu a defeat which mean they cease hosting the semi-final in Kampala with young star Joseph Aredo scoring Rwenzori’s only try while Chris Lubanga managed a penalty and conversion.

Lawrence Buyach, Edwin Makori and Samy Wairu scored a try each while Martin Muita managed a try, 3 penalties and 2 conversions as Ndovu secured top spot in Pool B with 12 points to book a semi-final against another Kenya franchise UAP Papa

“The boys I have can play any one in rugby but I think they lacked concentration and that is all we want if we are to win the semi-final against Nyumbu on home soil,” Mudoola stated while Rwenzori fans mumbled on why he would make six changes to a winning side.

“Mudoola has cost us (Ugandan fans) semi final action. He was supposed to retain the same side that won in Kenya last weekend,” one Rwenzori follower who asked not to be named lamented.

In the early 2pm kickoff, Scrum half Kevin Makmot gave Victoria an early 5-0 lead through a try before Philip Pariyo stretched the lead to 10-0 courtesy of a conversion and penalty as Victoria mauled Kenyan side Kiboko 37-16 in the final group game of the Bamburi Rugby Super Series at Kyadondo Rugby Club to bow out on a high.

Cheered on by a big Kenyan crowd cheering them on, Kiboko mounted pressure and scored three tries and a conversion to cut the lead to 37-26 to overturn a 24-6 by half time Victoria led following a fired up Denis Mugambe and Pariyo adding a try and conversion plus two penalties.

Rwenzori will look to the pack of Alex Mubiru (captain), Asuman Mugerwa, Scot Olouch, Oscar Kalyango, Micheal Wakorach and Chris Lubanga to guide them to victory away in Nairobi.

Rwenzori have all to play for against Nyumbu especially after Victoria’s failure to advance to the semis.
