Player Walkout Costs KCCA League Double

thumb geneva;”>Competitions committee secretary Decolas Kiiza announced on Monday evening that since the quarterfinal match between KCCA FC and Vipers FC on May 7 ended prematurely, thumb it was concluded that KCCA fans and officials caused the game to be abandoned.

“This match was played at Buikwe playground and was not played to conclusion when the KCCA FC skipper Richard Malinga said his team could not continue after stoppage in the 84th minute, but the Vipers FC team was ready to continue as they were also leading 1-0,” said Kiiza.

Kiiza also explained that the referee and match commissioner highlighted that during the half-time interval, KCCA fans prevented the match officials from accessing the dressing rooms.

Furthermore, when the ball went out of play in the 84th minute, KCCA FC team officials Nsimbe George, Fred Lumu and David Tamale came off the bench and allegedly attacked first assistant referee Issa Masembe.

Kiiza explained that the KCCA fans also stoned the first assistant referee and some players and also went ahead to break down the perimeter fence behind KCCA’s bench.

“This decision to kick out KCCA FC and let Vipers qualify for the semifinals with a 3-0 win is as per the regulations of the Uganda Cup,” explained Kiiza.

He said KCCA will now be asked to pay a fine, produce two of their fans who will appear before the disciplinary committee together with some club officials including Coach George Nsimbe
